Prohibited items

1.Real firearms and ammunition

• Firearms of any kind, including those you hold a licence for. Licensed firearms must be transferred through a licensed dealer under the Firearms Control Act — not through a noticeboard.
• Live ammunition of any calibre, including reloading components, primers and propellant.
• Deactivated, decommissioned or non-functioning real firearms.
• Blank-firing or gas-powered replicas built on real firearm frames, or anything that can be converted to fire a live round.
• Suppressors, and any component intended for a real firearm.

2.Anything that needs a licence or permit

If lawfully owning, buying or transferring the item requires a licence, permit or dealer, it does not belong here. That includes air rifles and air pistols above the legal muzzle-energy threshold, which are treated as firearms in South Africa.

3.Explosives and pyrotechnics

• Commercial or improvised explosives of any kind.
• Military ordnance, flares and distress devices.
• Pyrotechnic grenades and thunderflashes that are not sold for airsoft or paintball use, and anything not legal to hold without a permit.

Gas grenades, BB shower grenades and reusable airsoft pyro that is legal to own and post are fine.

4.Stolen, counterfeit and misrepresented goods

• Anything you do not own, or cannot prove you are entitled to sell.
• Counterfeit gear passed off as a genuine brand. Clones are welcome — call them clones.
• Items with altered or removed serial numbers or trademarks where the intent is to disguise their origin.
• Listings that misstate condition, velocity, or what is included in the sale.

5.Other weapons and hazards

• Prohibited knives, knuckledusters, batons and similar weapons.
• Tasers, stun devices and pepper spray.
• Crossbows and hunting bows.
• Chemicals, compressed gas cylinders that are out of certification, and damaged or swollen lithium batteries.

6.Things that are not airsoft gear

This is a gear marketplace, not a classifieds site. Do not list vehicles, electronics, services, tickets, adult content, alcohol, tobacco, medicines, animals, or anything else unrelated to the hobby.

7.Rules that apply to every listing

• Transport them properly. Replicas travel in a bag or case, never in the open and never in a way that could be mistaken for a real firearm in public.
• State the muzzle velocity. FPS is optional in the form because not every item has one, but for anything that shoots, try to add it in.
• One listing per item. Relisting the same item repeatedly to stay near the top gets the duplicates removed.

8.Reporting something

Every listing has a Report this listing link. Use it. Reports are reviewed by HitMarker staff and the seller is never told who reported them. If you believe an item is genuinely illegal rather than just against these rules, report it to the SAPS as well — we can remove a listing, we cannot investigate a crime.
